Find out what Ancient Indian Scriptures and Modern science say about it.
Let us first understand what is meant by a very large number or something referred to as countless. When asked to a 10 year old, he gave me the example of the number of droplets of water in an ocean or the number of sand particles on the sea-shore. Are these things really countless? Or it is referred to as countless because the child wasn’t aware about the method to calculate those things?

According to a very rough estimate by the scientists, the sea water droplets are not more than 10^30 and the number of sand particles on the seashore are even less than that. According to scientists, the mass of the sun is 10^30 Kilograms and the mass of an electron is 10^(-30) Kilograms. Did you notice some pattern in the numbers? Speaking roughly, if every drop of sea water is made equivalent to 1kg, the total aggregate of sea water drops will be equivalent to the mass of the Sun. Similarly, if a round mass of 1kg is divided into as many parts as the sea water droplets, its mass will be equivalent to that of an electron. Do you think that all these numbers have some interrelation in the making of the universe? Or we have evolved just randomly as assumed by some western scholars? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Moving forward, what if I told you that life wouldn’t exist on this planet without the number 108? Yes, you read it right. If you are a Hindu, you must have come across this number several times. For example, there are 108 beads in a mala. If you ask an elderly person that how many times to chant a mantra, or how many times to go round the shrine of a temple, they will simply say 108. So why do all the practices of Hindus revolve around the number 108? Does it have any scientific significance or was it just a randomly chosen number?
Let’s find out, in Hinduism, the Sun and the Moon are worshipped as gods. And it is evident, that no life would exist on earth if the sun and the moon were not present. Not only their presence is important, but also their position and diameters, relative to earth plays a major role to sustain life on Earth. If you have the habit of observing the sky, you might have observed that the Sun and the Moon roughly appear to be of same size. Even though the Sun is 400 times larger than the moon, it appears of the same size when seen from earth. It is because of the number 108.
The ratio of distance between the earth and Sun and the diameter of the Sun is equal to 108. Also, the ratio of the distance between the earth and the moon and the diameter of moon is equal to 108. If any of these ratio changes even a little bit, there will be disasters all around. Either there will be tsunamis or drought or everything will be frozen depending on which value has changed. So this clearly shows that, there is life on earth only because of the number 108.
Did ancient Hindus have knowledge about this? Or are there any other reasons behind selecting 108 as the sacred number? How is 108 related to Human Physiology? More secrets to be unraveled in the upcoming blogs. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. And stay tuned!
